WIND - Christmas in Athens
Athens, Greece /
December - January 2013
When the Christmas themed Ice Festival in Liverpool was in full swing, our crew was hard at work trying to bring the festive spirit almost 2500 miles away in the middle of the picturesque Syntagma Square in the center of Athens.
Although Greece is a rather unique Christmas destination, this holiday season the City of Athens had put on its festive best, aiming to put a smile on the faces of everybody there. Our structure became the center point of a Christmas festival held from the 11th of December all the way to January 5th, involving 550 artists, musical events, art events, educational programs, workshops for children and adults, storytelling, theater, animators, clowns, acrobats, jugglers and carols and sixteen Christmas trees, created by 20 interior architecture students of the AKTO college, which decorated the aformentioned Syntagma Square.
Our event dome also housed a unique 360 degrees photobooth, provided by one of the biggest Greek mobile phone operators - WIND. The "Christmassy" Freedome 110 event dome - equipped with our circular trussing, transparent front and a branded Membrane - was definitely a sight, overlooking the ice rink that was set up there during the festival.
Having heard all the positive feedback about our structures we will be definitely coming back to Athens in the nearest future.
