Vestas - Mezzanine system that matches mobility of Freedomes
10 locations around the world /
Fall 2014 - Summer 2015
Founded in 1945 in Denmark - Vestas is the largest global manufacturer, seller, installer, and servicer of wind turbines.
To emphasize their involvement in production of renewable energy and great potential of wind power, Vestas joined Volvo Ocean Race, the most famous yacht race around the world, where 60 best sailors representing 7 teams do not only race against each other, but most importantly, they fight with fierce forces of nature.
Over period of 9 months, teams covered nearly 72,000 km visiting 10 ports on 6 continents. Arrival in each port was accompanied by Volvo Ocean Race Village, a place where sport and entertainment collide to create a unique experience for everyone.
Volvo Ocean Race Villages are one of the biggest marine themed events ever. It is an experience that could only be compared to the Formula 1 GP weekends, where visitors are entertained with concerts, live shows, exhibitions, rides, fireworks and restaurants.
It is also a place where enthusiasts of sailing meet master boat builders, famous boat designers and the most experienced yachtsmen. It was also a place where Vestas used engaging, interactive installations to spread their gospel about wind that brings hope and promise of victory against the pollution.
For this purpose they have commissioned Freedomes to design a custom, multifunctional mezzanine system that would complement their own geodesic dome with base area of 300 square meters.
Their timing was perfect, because we have just introduced a brand new mezzanine setup based on Freecubes - our own modular system of cubic structures made of steel, glass and/or composite panels in any color and with any branding that could be imagined. It features balustrades, staircases, sliding doors and special lighting, while cable ducts allow easy installation of additional equipment, including monitors, speakers and projection systems.
It is a mezzanine system that matches mobility of Freedomes. Quick assembly time and lack of requirement for heavy equipment allow assembly in any location. All elements are flat and stackable, easy and cost effective in transport and storage. Perfect solution for roadshows around the world.
While 2014-2015 Volvo Ocean Race was not the most successful start for Team Vestas Wind. Their geodesic dome with Freecubes mezzanine system, certainly served their purpose, spreading consciousness about the renewable energy and immense power of wind.
