Nike Retail Domes at U.S. Olympic Trials
Eugene (OR), USA /
July 2016
When consumers walked through the doors of the three Nike retail domes set up at the Tracktown Plaza, Eugene (OR), they could immediately feel like they had found the gate to the future. Meanwhile, some distance away, America’s best track and field athletes were setting speed records at 2016 USTF Olympic Team Trials for a coveted spot on the team headed to Rio.
Signs saying „Come run with us” dropped at Hayward Field by Nike and Satis&fy teams pointed to the special athletic experience inside giant tents made exclusively for fans. Sport footwear giant ordered three domes connected by 4m tunnels as a backdrop for installations showcasing its rich history. Visitors were invited to an immersive virtual reality to race against each other and a record holder Evan Jager on a specially arranged futuristic treadmill.
Our team of engineers built a network of domes featuring, among others, the so-called "Innovation Dome" and "Footwear Trial Dome" with a base area totaling 1,350 square meters! All three geodesic domes (Freedome 700, 500 and 150) were covered with white membranes, and two of them were also equipped with Premium Floors. The new setup for Nike was designed holistically to guarantee a network of attractive retail venues any fan would like to step in.
