Butterfly Dome For RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show
London, UK /
July 2016
The largest flower show in the world is over and we have just dismantled its „biggest attraction”, the so-called „Butterfly Dome”. Tagged „the lush paradise garden,” the 300-square-meters big geodesic dome was filled with hundreds of free-flying exotic butterflies and hothouse plants.
Run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) at Hampton Court Palace every July in southwest London, the show features talks and demonstrations amid floral marquees, gardens and pavilions. Focusing mainly on all matters environmental, it supports growing own food and offers gardening accessories and plants.
Our team assembled a transparent Freedome 300 with custom membrane, butcher curtains and porches creating a tropical paradise unlike any other! Simply by stepping inside, visitors moved into a tropical space full of colorful butterflies from South America and Indonesia and planting inspired by an original exotic habitat — place where these species live in the wild.
"[The dome] really brings a taste of the tropics to the show. It also gives the RHS a great opportunity to talk about the importance of insects to ecosystems all over the world, but especially to gardens in the UK. We hope the dome will inspire visitors to do something in their own garden to help British butterflies.” - quoted from Luxury London: "Inside the Butterfly Dome at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show."
