Bubble tent for Frankfurt Bookfair
Frankfurt, Germany /
October 2013
For their 2013 edition the prestigious Frankfurt Book Fair invited us to provide them with one of our structures for their newest attraction: The Kids Bubble. The name says it all and our F150 reflected the theme perfectly. As our event domes have proven to be famous with kids on every occasion, choosing a bubble tent to promote books and reading to the youngest visitors of the Book Fair was the only logical one could have made.
The Book Fair attracts visitors from all over the world, and the whole industry from writers to publishers as well as readers come to Frankfurt for one week of October, looking for the latest trends and inspirations in publishing.
The preparation for the event started in Spring already, as our client had very specific expectations and, as he said in the end we exceeded them all. Our bubble tent dome featured a large circular truss for the internal lighting of the stage and a heater in case it would be a typical German autumn, which it was.
The Kids Bubble has attracted a lot of attention and not only young visitors wanted to take a peek inside to see what our structure was all about. Even Sid the sloth from Ice Age was present, and many people were eager to have their picture taken with this fluffy character.
What’s interesting, the Freedome 150 is one of the few structures that can actually be called a “bubble tent”. This is because the lower part of the F150’s steel frame is slightly curved, what, as opposed to other solutions available on the market, gives the dome its unique spherical shape.
What makes us very happy, is that the bubble tent was available for hire for after-fair-parties, and was fully booked within a very short time!
The 2014 Book Fair is very likely to see the Kids Bubble again and maybe even more of our structures as they are a perfect addition to the Agora (the Central square of the Frankfurt fair ground). We are certainly looking forward to it!
